I’m always amazed at how mamas can adapt to their circumstances and confront sudden changes with grace and strength. Victoria was no exception. I was Victoria's doula at Lucille’s birth, and snapped some pictures at the end, but I was so grateful to have been there. The pregnancy had it’s ups and downs, and the birth itself even had a little hump along the way, but Victoria was steadfast through it all, confidently and kindly defending her birth and her choices and advocating for herself and her baby with knowledge and respect. It was no easy task, but Victoria did it beautifully. One of my favorite parts of this birth was hearing mom and dad quibbling back and forth about whose turn it was to hold their new little lady. Daddy was so proud and excited for her arrival! Victoria got the birth she wanted and fought for, and sweet Lucille was a healthy girl. There was much to be grateful for.
